fix: function map not always working with matrices (#3242)
* Removed maxArgumentCount in favor of applyCallback

* Making a pure _recurse function

* Added cbrt tests, removed unnecesary changes in functions.

* Fixed main bottleneck

* Restored back function before unintended change

* Fix format
